Can Artificial Grass Get Wet?
We’re currently in the aftermath of ‘Storm Ciara’ here in the UK which caused torrential rain, winds and left many places flooded, especially in our home turf of Yorkshire!
A popular question in our industry is can artificial grass get wet? Many of our customers are still pencilled in for installations during and after the storm. Can artificial grass be laid in the rain?

It Depends
It really depends on the surface below where you want your artificial lawn installed. Are you installing on soil? Is the soil soft and going to create a mud-bath? Are you installing on decking? Are you installing on concrete? We can have a look at this for you when one of our experienced surveyors come out to your location free of charge.
Can Artificial Grass Get Wet?
Although our K9 turf is water-proof and has an advanced draining system, all artificial grasses (even ones as good as ours) can feel wet to touch. When it rains, the water drains through our advanced draining system. However, during heavy rain and storms some water can run off the top of the surface. The level of moisture will of course be a lot lower than that of a regular lawn. So can artificial grass get wet? We’d say it can get damp, but not soaking wet.
So Artificial Grass Can’t Flood?
No, artificial grass should not become flooded. If for some reason you do experience flooding on your artificial lawn, contact your manufacturer and installer. This will most likely be to do with the quality of the lawn and installation e.g. what it’s made of, was the lawn secured correctly? This is why it’s always important to choose quality when purchasing artificial grass. The value for money will be much greater than that of a cheap, poorly manufactured lawn.
